Experience
I tutored math, reading, and writing to middle school students in 2012, helping them prep for state testing. After I moved to Austin in 2013, I started working towards a degree in the education field at Austin Community College. It wasn't until I transferred to Texas State University two years later that I began to specialize in English. Both at ACC and TXST I was involved in programs that exposed me to a classroom setting where I would begin to shape my own pedagogy and apply those instructional methods to a more personal, one-on-one type of setting for students that needed private tutelage. I love teaching because of that first experience I had as a middle school tutor. When I saw how the current education system left students falling behind, only to feel pressured by more standardized testing, I simply felt a passion to help students succeed. Now before this year is over, I will have my teacher certification, and will finally make my passion into a career. I scored highest in mathematics on standardized tests all throughout grades K-12. I tested out of college algebra with sufficient knowledge regarding functions and graphs. I also have experience in tutoring elementary math and high school geometry. I'm currently also getting ESL certified. Other strengths include grammar, composition, creative writing, and a well-rounded knowledge of literature. I'm also semi-fluent in Spanish.

Hobbies
I enjoy reading, writing, creating music on my piano, hiking, or volunteering at animal shelters. In my free time I also volunteer for programs that help others develop their writing skills. When I'm not doing any of the activities listed above, I'm usually out being social with friends, coworkers, or family.
